From May 26–31, Athens becomes a vibrant gathering place for choral artists as Dr. Michael Joseph Barrett hosts an international festival in partnership with Firebird Fine Arts Tours. An internationally respected conductor, educator, and composer, Barrett is known for his collaborative spirit, bold musical imagination, and ability to inspire singers across cultures and experience levels. Drawing on a career that spans six continents and award-winning ensembles, he brings a globally informed and deeply human approach to music-making in one of the world’s most historically resonant cities.


This Athens festival is built around connection between singers, cultures, and musical traditions and culminates in a powerful final performance shaped by Barrett’s dynamic leadership. Carefully curated by Firebird Fine Arts Tours, the experience weaves together focused rehearsals and rich cultural exploration, inviting participants to encounter Greece not just as visitors, but as artists creating something meaningful together in the cradle of Western civilization.

Who Can Apply

This festival is open to non-professional choirs from around the world, with participation by simple audition video. Repertoire will be curated and led by Dr. Michael Barrett, and mixed-voice ensembles are encouraged. Firebird Fine Arts Tours will coordinate all musical preparation and on-site logistics in advance of the festival, ensuring a seamless and inspiring experience for all participants.
